For our family, stories are a fun way to play together. We tell stories in the car, in the grocery store, at restaurants. As a mom of four, telling stories is how I kept the kids from knocking all the gum off the shelves in the grocery check out line.

So how do you get four kids, with a 10-year age gap between oldest and youngest, telling a story together? Well, we used a super easy storytelling formula: Who + What + Why Not. When we broke a story down like this, the kids quickly learned how to contribute ideas, build on each other’s input, and have fun together. (You can see our kids story examples throughout the site.)

Today, we’ve made our family’s super easy storytelling formula and tons of story telling and story writing resources available for free on this website. We hope you enjoy and help kids and adults put down the electronics and have some old-fashioned fun.
